Jumpy Jack and Googily by Meg Rosoff and Sophie Blackall

Jumpy Jack and Googily is a lovely children’s book about 2 friends and their fears.

Jumpy Jack is a snail who is terrified of monsters, whilst his best friend is Googily, who is, as you may have guessed, a monster.

Everywhere they go, Jumpy Jack asks Googily to check for monsters that may jump out and surprise him.

There is a fair bit of humour in this tale – in Jumpy Jacks descriptions of the monster (basically he is describing Googily) and in the ending but these do go slightly over my 3 year olds head.

He still loves this book though, and as there is a fair bit of repetition “nothing here” “or here”, he does like to join in.

The pictures are bright and the characters very likeable.

Of course our favourite part is the end but I can’t tell you about that as it is should be a surprise!

All opinions when doing these book reviews are completely our own.
