Rachel had been to the pantomime once before in Redditch – with my in-laws three years ago. However, she had only made it through the first half as during that half, she had begun to develop spots and by the intermission she had become covered in spots that we later worked out was Chicken pox!
So this was the first time we had all been together.
The children had no idea where we going – we had kept it a secret – they just knew we were going out for a surprise!
We arrived at the theatre and found Grandma and Grandad in the restaurant – a surprise in itself for the children as they didn’t know even that we were meeting them.
We had seats in the circle – near the top, but the view of the stage was still very good.
It was maybe a tad too long for Jack, who kept asking if it was the end yet throughout the second half! But at the end he declared how great it had been!
I think a favourite part for me was their version of 12 days of Christmas – 5 toilet rolls…very funny! Oh no it isn’t – oh yes it is!
The actors were brilliant and the kids that went up onto the stage were very cute and very funny – and what did Santa bring you for Christmas? Dallllers..what? We never found out what it was!
Oh and that has reminded me of another brilliant sketch from Wishee washee and Widow Twankey – who lives in the first house, what is the second and I don’t know in the third.. fantastically funny!
If you missed out this year, then I definitely recommend the pantomime for a fun-filled afternoon for 3’s and over.
If you did get to see one, which did you see and where?
