Beer Bottle Cap Coasters

Working in a pub, I have access to no end of beer bottle caps, so this week, we decided to recycle some and make some little drinks coasters.

Air-drying clay

Bottle Tops

How we did it:

First of a, get a lump of clay and knead it until it is soft enough to roll.

Roll out the clay to a thickness of around half a centimetre, then using a cookie cutter cut out your required shape.

We made round coasters.

We swept some silver paint over our coaster to give it a bit of colour  -but of course you could alternatively just use coloured clay in the first place!

Select your bottle caps and press them gently into your clay coaster.

Leave to dry.

As the clay is air-drying clay, they recommend that you leave it for a few days.

Once dry, cover with a coat of varnish to give it a little sheen and to make it waterproof.

Your bottle cap coasters are ready to go once the varnish has dried!
