It is important for them to get out of the house and away from the tv and computer screens and do something fun.
Every town and every county have their own and unique outdoor spaces to discover.
When I was a child, I was lucky enough to live near a canal and we had friends who ran canal boats. There was also a great woodland area to explore – made enchanting by my parents and their tales of Goldilocks cottage, the trolls bridge, the abc bridge and so on.
Living in a Coventry, we have recently discovered Ryton Pools. It is a great place to visit on a fine day, with a multitude of child-friendly activities to do.
There is a playground, a children’s wood – where you can build dens, a miniature train (although I have yet to see it working!), a small lake where you can feed ducks and plenty of outdoor paths and grassy areas to play in.
On this occasion, we took Grandad for a day out there and had a lovely time – well I did anyway!
And who doesn’t enjoy a picnic on a lovely, sunny day out?
Oh and just a quick note – you have to pay for parking there which is £2.50, but aside from that it can be a cheap day out.
Here’s a slideshow to show you our day.
