How to Transfer a Photo onto Wood to Make a Door Plaque
I had been wanting to try out the transferring of photos onto a block of wood for a while ,and finally got around to giving it a go whilst making this unique personalised door hanger. Materials:
Photo
Block of wood/plywood
Matte Gel Medium
Varnish/Mod Podge
Scrabble Tiles
Strong glue
How to:
1. Transfer photo onto wood Firstly brush your piece of wood with a generous amount of matte gel.
Place your photo face down onto the gelled side of the wood.
Leave to dry overnight. Carefully peel/rub off the back of the photo paper.
Hopefully your photo will now remain imprinted on the wood! It doesn’t have to be perfect and it actually creates a nice finish if its not perfect. Cover with varnish and leave to dry.
2. Add name to personalise. Use your wooden scrabble tiles to write the name of the person whose door hanger it is to be. Then glue them together with a strong glue.
Finally, attach your name, using more glue, to the bottom of the wooden photo.
Then your personalised door hanger is ready to hang.
