Chocolate Stars Cake

To celebrate both kids having been nominated as stars of the week in their respective classes at school, we whipped up this simple shimmery chocolate cake, decorated with chocolate stars and kit-kats!

Chocolate Stars Cake
Ingredients:
Chocolate cake
150g sugar
150g butter
120g self raising flour
30g cocoa powder
2 eggs
1tsp baking powder

Toppings
1 pack Jane Asher chocolate buttercream mix
2 packs kit kats
Gold shimmer spray
Sprinkles

Stars
White chocolate
Star lolly mould
Straw

How to:
Mix together the sugar and butter.
Beat the eggs and add to the sugar and butter mix.
Sieve in the flour and coca powder and fold into the mixture.

Pour the mix into a 7 or 8 inch round cake tin.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 20 minutes.
Turn onto a cooling rack and set to one side.

Make the chocolate buttercream.
Coat the top and sides of the cooled cake with the buttercream mix.
Break the kit-kats in half and stick around the sides of the cake.

Melt the white chocolate and pour into the star lolly mould.
Coat the straw with more white chocolate.

When the lollipops have cooled, stick them into the top of the straw and insert the straw into the top of the cake.

Finally decorate with sprinkles and spray with shimmer spray.
